Design Logic & Technology:
A. Vehicle sensors are installed at each stall to detect and indicate the real-time occupancy. A red LED on the sensor indicates the stall is occupied or blocked, and a green LED indicates the stall is available. B. The APGS system uses the occupancy status from each stall sensor to continuously update information on dynamic signs to direct patrons to available parking stalls. The APGS continuously calculates the number of available stalls within each counting zone or floor, and it continuously updates the display on each dynamic sign. C. Dynamic signs are installed in the building helix. These signs display a number which represents the total number of available stalls on each floor. Additional dynamic signs display the number of available stalls down that row. Each floor or each zone uses embedded loops under the ramps to detect vehicle movements and calculate occupancy. The APGS also interfaces with Open/Full signs at the garage entry. D. APGS counting is based on the stall sensor status, pre-count sensor status and user-controlled overrides. Vehicles exiting rows, driving in the helixes, or exiting the garage are not counted by the APGS unless they pass under a stall sensor or a pre-count sensor. Pre-count sensors are located near the entrances to rows. These sensors function to temporarily count vehicles as they enter a row. After a vehicle passes under a pre-count sensor, the APGS temporarily decrements the available space count on the associated dynamic sign for a preprogrammed period such as 20 seconds. If the vehicle is not detected by a stall sensor within the preprogrammed period, the available space count on the associated dynamic sign is incremented. E. The APGS real-time status is displayed on computers running the APGS software on the parking network. Graphic User Interface screens (GUIs) display the real-time status of each sensor, dynamic sign, and connected parking revenue control system (PRCS) equipment such as gates. The status of each stall sensor, dynamic sign, and connected gates can be monitored and manually controlled through this interface. Reports can be generated to assist in managing the garage. |
